Abstract
Objective: To determine the influence of religious beliefs and values on perception, attitudes and behaviors towards blood donation. Methodology: explanatory, cross-sectional, prospective, with a qualitative approach. Population: Regarding gender, six were men and six women, chosen by non-probabilistic convenience sampling, a sufficient number, considering the duplication of the information provided. The criterion for the sample was: attending the Chapel of Our Lady of Solidarity of the La Trinidad Parish. The interviews were developed individually, after explaining the objective of the work and having the person sign the informed consent. People had the option of not answering any of the questions that they did not consider convenient, and they were explained if the question was not clearly understood. People were interviewed until the researcher considered that the answers became repetitive, considering a saturation point after 12 interviews. Results: People considered that their values and beliefs were professed since childhood and influenced by their family. They feel that it is important to help others, but donating blood is not considered as one of the actions of help. It is better to carry out other types of charitable activities in case help is required. Conclusions: Religious beliefs and values do not influence people's perception, attitude and behavior towards blood donation.
