Application of the digital signature platform in the issuance of academic documents of a Public University

Abstract

The research titled “Application of the digital signature platform in the issuance of academic documents of a Public University” addresses previous problems related to the delay in the delivery of academic documents to students. Its main objective was to introduce a platform that incorporates digital signature to improve efficiency in the issuance of these documents, optimizing both the process and student satisfaction. The research approach was quantitative, applied and explanatory level, using an experimental design, with pre-experimental sub-design. We worked with a sample of 309 students, using techniques such as interviews and surveys, and using questionnaires as a data collection instrument. The implementation of the platform was carried out using the agile SCRUM framework, favoring collaborative work and providing quick results in short-term projects. The results showed a significant improvement after the implementation of the digital signature, with a p-value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05, thus rejecting the null hypothesis and accepting the alternative hypothesis. This shows that the platform is perceived as useful by students, considerably reducing document delivery time. Before said implementation, the process took 10 business days, while, after implementation, 92% of documents were issued in one day and 8% in two days, with no document taking more than two days. The research suggests that the platform can be used in other academic and administrative procedures to improve document management.
